W.T.F. Silencers’ Silencer Summit Results
Independent, third-party sound data from the Thunder Beast Arms (TBAC) Silencer Summit in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
W.T.F. Silencers put Jackalope, Barron Big Bore, Tatanka, and Marmot cans on real hosts — from 7mm Backcountry and .308 bolt guns to subsonic .300 BLK, pistols, and big-bore platforms — so you can see how our silencers perform where it counts: at the muzzle and at the shooter’s ear.

How to read the numbers
- Peak dBA (muzzle avg / shooter’s ear)
- A-weighted peak sound pressure level in decibels. Lower is quieter. TBAC’s muzzle average blends left and right muzzle mics; shooter’s ear is measured at the shooter’s position.
- SE Impulse (dB·ms)
- How much sound energy hits the shooter’s ear over time — not just the sharp peak. Lower impulse often feels “softer” even when peak numbers look similar.
- Shooter’s ear
- The meter at the shooter’s head — usually what matters most for hearing exposure and how a can feels on that host.
- Host abbreviations
- Hosts are labeled in plain English above (e.g. 16″ AR-15 (5.56), 20″ .308 bolt action, 9mm pistol). Subsonic loads are called out where TBAC tested them.

Sound figures shown here are from Thunder Beast Arms Corporation’s third-party Silencer Summit testing (2024 and 2026). Full methodology, microphone placement, and raw data are published on the TBAC site linked above.
Results depend on host firearm, ammunition, temperature, and setup; they are not a warranty of hearing protection. Always use appropriate hearing protection when shooting.
